Zoya, a pretty six-year old girl, coming from a poor Jewish family.
She has been staying in the orphanage for 2 years. Her mother left her when she was quite little. Zoya’s mother has completely forgotten about her child, she is addicted to drink and lives with different men. There are many alcoholics in the village where Zoya was born as people do not often have a steady job in the village and are poor. As Zoya had not been cared for until she was 4, she has some health problems. She also needs emotional rehabilitation, she often cries at nighttime asking where her mother is. Nobody visits her in the orphanage. Zoya has many needs that state institution like an orphanage can not meet. And of course she needs a lot of our prayers.
Vladik is 11, he has been living in the orphanage since he was 6. He has two sisters - Angelina who is 5 and Katya who is 8. Vladik’s mother brought up the kids by herself and could not provide them. They used to live in a small room in a dormitory where they did not have even a fridge and other conveniences. Vladik and his sisters have different fathers. Sometimes Vladik’s grandmother who lives in the nearby village comes to visit him in the orphanage. When the kids lived at home they would starve as their mother was not often at home at night. The kids used to go to the forest to pick up berries and mushrooms and then sold them to buy some groceries. Vladik has suffered a lot of trouble and rejection. His mother doesn’t love him; she doesn’t want him to come home. Vladik needs your love, care, and prayers. We believe that while you are reading this story God is touching your heart – this child has never seen or felt parents’ love.
Yura is 11, his mother died when he was 4. His father got married to a woman who has got 3 kids. Yura’s step-mother does not love him and does her best to prevent him from meeting his father. She does not want the father to take the boy home on holiday. Yura’s father drinks and the family lives very poorly. Yura is an emotionally hurt boy, he often cries and feels nervous. None of his relatives comes to visit him in the orphanage. Each of us can show affection towards this child and buy some clothes, shoes or a present for him. The children are not anybody else’s.
Andrey and Kolya are brothers (14 and 15 years old). They live and study in the orphanage. Their mother left them and went to Poland to work. Their father is almost blind. He did not have a place to live so he took shelter in barracks in a small town. Kolya and Andrey’s father does not have a possibility to visit the boys in the orphanage. The brothers had to steal and cheat to survive. They do not believe people can help them or care for them just because of love. They had to become adults very early but they do not have any future. They do not have any people either to instruct them how not to ruin their life.
I send out a small amount every month supporting a little boy in Ukraine through FH. It's amazing to think I can make such a big difference to one young life in such a small way. I sometimes stop to think how many more lives can be touched if more people were to become sponsors.
